Crochet Pram Cover

March 30, 2007

Embossed roses are used a lot in Irish Crochet. They are usually placed on a simple background which tends to show off the intricasy of their design. I have used a simple square as a frame for the rose and added a chain stitch to link the squares together.

The complete cover is 4 squares wide by 5 long, to which a shell edging has been added. It fits an average sized pram or a small cot, although the size can be adjusted simply by adding more squares before making the edging.

Crochet shawl

March 23, 2007

When I was 4 years old my mother taught me to crochet. As there are only two basic stitches and everything else is a variation of them I found learning quite easy. It did take concentration at first until I had gained confidence.

I continued learning and have completed many projects since then ranging from lace to chunky crochet. Beautiful layettes can be created from the basic stitches. These are some pictures of the christening shawl I completed recently.

My first blog!

March 22, 2007

There is so much to learn about how to run a blog. How to make it interesting and friendly and then there all the “techie” things I’ll need to know as well. So far I’m enjoying this.

I decided to write a blog because I love working and designing using several needlecrafts, although strictly as an amateur. It would be a pleasure to share some of them with you.

There are many pictures of completed projects to show on here and all the items I have made are of my own design. I shall add more information over the next days.
